Whoopy did cmd and said it was un installed so that is good wasn t their another 4 updates posted here that should be un installed to keep win 10 out of win 8. I run a thread monitoring windows updates and reporting which are safe, which are buggy, which are important, which help with security, which don't and which appear to do nasty things.
The updates you really need to keep up-to-date on are the security ones they are named "Security Update for All other updates can wait a few days for a chance to see if others report them to be buggy list of windows 8.1 updates to avoid free download crashes or nasty do things a user might not want doing in the backgroundif one of these other updates is buggy or nasty a user is quite safe to not install that one.
These four play a role in forcibly upgrading a user to 8. If you are an 8. Some of these prepare the ground for windows 10, if you want to upgrade to 10 at some point although it's not even released yet so this isn't something to think about for several months probably bst to do it at a time of your choosing, it is not clear whether these updates simply produce nag prompts or do things which are more forcible.
KB you probably want to avoid for a different reaon, if my interpretation of it's decription is correct it forces a use t use an ms account, forces bitlocker to be turned on and forces a user to use fully automatc updates. Also as a general rule all users shuld be wary of updates to drivers, firmware bios or uefi, these types of updates can brick a computer is they are buggy. This sort of update usually adds functionality for users of a particular type of computer or users with particular components, if you don't have the relevant computer type or components such updates will do nothing for you.
The thread is updates as an when updates come out, list of windows 8.1 updates to avoid free download when someone hears news of a buggy or nasty update, or when someone experiences a buggy or nasty update.
For discussing a large amount of detail about a prticular updates, or solving problems on emight list of windows 8.1 updates to avoid free download caused a new thread should be started instead, though solving the prolems of a problem update can usually be fixed by uninstalling it from within control panel. If you can't boot properly for any reason having a system image is helpful. On windows 8. Note that a system image made after list of windows 8.1 updates to avoid free download particular update is installed will contain that update built in, if you make a system image after an update you don't like and load from that system image, you probbly can't uninstall that update, so on a new machine make a system image before updating, just incase of buggy or nasty ones.
Sounds like an excellent idea to me - I do always install Security updates ASAP but as you point out - the others are no rush. I'll check your list and hopefully avoid some headaches by doing so. Should I not install - I can throw away my sleep tablets! Posted 18 August - AM. Posted 18 August - PM. JayJax post 22 Naturally I cannot know everything about a windows update, so on the thread I can only post what I do know, but whenever I install an update I note on that thread whether it caused any crashes, whether I noticed my computer "acting funny" in the first few hours afterwards, whether anything "nasty" happened shortly afterwards and other such things.
If any updates I install turn out to be nasty a significant time after installation if there was something that didn't do it's bad stuff until a week or so passed for exmaple then I report that if it occurs when it happens.
I also mention other updates I have noticed that look like they might be unpleasant, according to their descriptions, and mention if there is anything that a lot of other users has reported to be a cause of problems. It's possible that if an update were nasty but took weeks before doing something nasty then I might accidentally classify it as safe until I realised, it's also possible that an update I install might be fine for my setup but have issues with the hardware or other software on some other computers, but I do my best to let people know if particular updates are ok.
Other users are very welcome to post the same sort of things about the updates they install, especially if they find one to be buggy or nasty. So far none of the security updates have ever list of windows 8.1 updates to avoid free download me crashes or unpleasant "features", most of the nasty updates have been ones which "add new features to windows", have very vague descriptions and are classed as "important" they are listed in the important list rather than the recommended list, that does not mean they are things a user actually needs.
As a general rule the ones a user needs are security fixes and list of windows 8.1 updates to avoid free download which cure bugs that the user has personally experienced.
